SUE Structure Photos App

Overview

The SUE Structure Photos app is built to capture photos of underground utility structures. The application is built on ArcGIS and runs within an application called “Field Maps“. Using ArcGIS Field Maps and a mobile device like an iPhone or an Android Phone provides an organized and streamlined way to capture structure photos in the field.

Download and Install ArcGIS Field Maps

From your mobile device, visit: https://fieldmaps.arcgis.app/

Use the links to install ArcGIS Field Maps from the app store

Login to the Horrocks ArcGIS Platform from Field Maps

Tap the Field Maps icon to launch the application

Select “Sign in with ArcGIS Enterprise”

Select “Specify a New URL”

Enter “https://portal.horrocks.com/arcgis”

Using location services to find your current location

Field maps uses the GPS of the mobile device to display your location in real time. Make sure ‘Location Services’ is on and that Field Maps has permissions to use the device location.

Note that because of the automated indexing feature, the Photo Points app does not support offline operation

Add a Structure Point, Select a Type, then Submit

Add a structure point by tapping the blue plus button on the bottom right of the screen. Select the structure type from the list, then click ‘Add Point’. Before adding photos or videos, tap ‘Submit’ at the top right of the screen.

This step is necessary because the structure point is given an ID when it is submitted. The photos need to be related to that ID. So the ID needs to exist before the media is attached.

Before attaching photos or videos, tap ‘Submit’ at the top right of the screen

Attach Photos and Videos to the Structure Point

Now that a point has been submitted and a structure index has been assigned, you can select the point and attach photos and videos.

Select the point, edit, attach media, then Submit
